Here I keep any illustrations that I have drawn for myself or others that do not fit with a specific theme or project. My true interest is in drawing animals and nature although I do also enjoy portraiture.
I created two series' of illustrations, one of products and one of herbs used for a PMS self care course run by Natasha Gonzales of Forage Botanicals.
The product illustrations were drawn in pencil and painted in water colours while the herb and plant illustrations remain as pencil drawings for the time being.
I created a series of illustrations based on the play 'A Winter's Tale' by William Shakespeare with a focus on the stage direction that hinges the moment the play turns from a tragedy to a comedy.
In these pieces, I wanted to explore the use of scale and perspective to show the seemingly simultaneous elements of aggressive strength and calm serenity in nature. The play itself displays both of these through the bear and the sea, both dangers seemingly coming out of nowhere to leave baby Perdita behind to be found.
All of the paintings were created digitally using textures and hand drawn elements created with a range of pencils and gouache paints.
